Monet

One of the most rewarding things about blogging is all the wonderful friends I've made.  I never knew there were so many other folks out there who were equally passionate about great food.  They've taught me a great deal about techniques and pairings.  They've tried recipes I've been eyeing and have either encouraged me to go ahead and make the recipe or dissuaded me from one that wasn't so good.  And, they've given me some great recipes to try.  But, more than that, a lot of them have become friends.  One of those friends, Monet, has had an unbelievably difficult year.  Mid-March a Facebook post came asking all of her friends to pray for her family.  Then, the news came that her sister Pam, brother-in-law Mike and two nephews had been in a horrific auto accident.  One of the nephews was killed instantly, another walked away with bumps and bruises and Pam and Mike were on life support.  They made the very difficult decision to remove Pam from life support on March 30.  What could we do to show our support for our dear Monet?  Liz from That Skinny Chick Can Bake came up with the perfect idea - RECIPES.  She gathered names and email addresses from other bloggers who'd commented on Monet's posts.  And, the recipes began to appear.  A veritable onslaught of recipes.  And, notes.  Wonderful notes of love and support.  We gathered them into a scrapbook and off they went to Monet.  Today, Monet is going to post about her scrapbook.  Liz and I thought it appropriate to thank all of the bloggers who were so kind to participate.  Here's a list of the bloggers, their blogs and their recipes.  There are a lot of very talented folks in this list.  Please wander over and check out their blogs.  And, please stop in and leave a note for Monet.  She's at Apple Cores and Anecdotes.  Here's to you, Monet.  Love, Kate

I agree with Liz. We could have done nothing but be there for Monet and show her our love in some way. Thank you to both of you for spearheading this and allowing us to show her how much we care.

I want to thank you and Liz for all your time and effort in compiling this very thoughtful dedication to Monet. She's not only beautiful inside, as evidenced by the wonderful photo you share of her and Ryan, but also beautiful inside. If readers have not found her site yet, they are truly missing out on incredible writing and wonderful, basic, yet unusual recipes for breads and pastries! Thanks again for this lovely gesture!

Kate,
I came to your site by way of Monet's. She is so truly blessed to have such wonderful friends in her life. The picture of her and her husband is beautiful and is evidence of her beauty both inside and out.
I love your collection of recipes and can't wait to try some of them.
And, just wanted to let you know that I like you even more knowing that you're a Red Sox fan!
