Valentine Dinner

Connie saying I love you thru a wine glass - he's the greatest!

What a production we had for our Valentine Dinner!!  We'd designed a complicated menu that I knew was going to take a LONG time to complete.  It seemed that Sunday was the better day for our feast.  So, we headed home from the office about 3:30.  Connie went off to the grocery store and I started in on the kitchen.  All the counters were cleaned.  Then, I got out ingredients that could safely sit out for a couple of hours.  Finally, it was time to dig in and cook.  Connie's a fantastic sous chef - and dishwasher.  Together, we pulled it off.  There were a couple of things I could've done better - like rolling the ravioli dough just a bit thinner - but overall we were very pleased with our dinner.  I'll post the recipes along the way this week but wanted you all to have a peek at our menu.

Here's what we had:

Amore Vietato (don't you love the orange peel heart?)

Bloody Mary Grape Tomatoes

Duck Ravioli with Duck Breast and Porcini Marsala Cream Sauce

Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Cabbage and Toasted Pine Nuts

Individual Pavlova's with Orange Curd

What a menu! I think that cooking together is so romantic. My hubby and I made a fancy dinner for our anniversary. I can't wait to see the recipe for the duck ravioli!

Wow - great job. I once heard that the way you can tell if a couple's marriage works, then watch them work in the kitchen together. And it looks like in your case, you dance perfectly together. Happy Valentine's Day!

Awww, that's just the sweetest menu and dinner I've seen. I love, love, love the citrus hearts in the drinks.

Regarding what Brandie said; the other way a marriage works is if the spouse that is all thumbs knows enough to stay out of the kitchen. :)

Everything looks perfect! I'd love a big plate of your ravioli followed by that delicious pavlova. Happy Valentine's Day to you and Connie!

Such a beautiful dinner! It's so much fun to cook with your spouse and "dance" in the kitchen. I'm looking forward to seeing all of your recipes.

What a lovely menu. We usually cook Valentine's Dinner together for us and our best friends next door. I love coming up with an elegant menu. But this year, we changed the plans and dined out. I rather missed our tradition, even if it was a lot less work.
